Unusual holiday destinations 2014

You’ve spent months saving up for it, have been mentally counting down for the past several weeks and have bored friends and family to death showing them the pictures from the brochure and online 360 degree tours of the resort. All that only to be massively disappointed when you get there. Sound familiar?

Holidays are supposed to be one of life’s greatest pleasures. They’re your reward for working hard throughout the year and bring the chance to spend quality time with family or friends. Yet travelling to the same resort year after year, mixing with the same people and seeing the same sights can become monotonous to the point of boring.

So why not take the plunge and try something a bit different in 2014, a holiday of a lifetime that you’ll be talking about for years to come and for all the right reasons.

Avoid letting your holiday dreams become a holiday disaster by considering one of the exciting alternatives below:
Sailing – Ontario, Canada
Sail along the beautiful Lake Ontario even if you have never set foot on a boat before!  There are many sailing schools in the area offering professional training and the chance to gain an Ontario boating license, which is required by federal law if you intend to operate a powered watercraft.

Lake Ontario is one of the five great lakes in North America, and is the 14th largest lake in the world.  Offering unparalleled fishing, gastronomical delights and plenty of fine wine, being bored wouldn’t be an option on this holiday!
Cycling- Catalonia, Spain
When you think about a cycling holiday your mind is automatically transported to picturesque countryside, fresh air and amazing views.

In a drastic change from the hustle and bustle of normal everyday life, a cycling holiday allows you to take things at a much slower pace.  You really will have all the time in the world to soak up the atmosphere in beautiful Catalonia.

Although only a short distance from Barcelona, this won’t be your usual Spanish holiday.  Catalonia feels very different to the rest of the country; not only do the locals speak Catalan rather than Spanish, it’s a place of enormous diversity that is best enjoyed from the saddle of a bike.
Jeep – Reykjavik, Iceland
If you’re an adrenaline junkie and prefer your holidays to be more high speed and thrilling than chilled and relaxing, then a jeep adventure across the city of Reykjavik could be the getaway for you.

Known as the land of fire and ice, this holiday destination offers you a wealth of exciting activities and adventures – from glaciers, to geysers, country to cosmopolitan there’s something here for everyone.
Train – Canadian Rockies
With some of the world’s most amazing landscapes, stunning views, thick lush forests and gushing rivers, the Canadian Rockies never fails to impress and the Rocky Mountaineer is the most iconic ways of experiencing it.  Travelling through the rockies between Vancouver and Banff there are over 65 vacation packages and four unique rail routes to enjoy.  Although over 100,000 people ride the mountaineer each year, this is still a unique and exciting holiday option that many claim to be the most life changing trip they have ever taken.
