The gem that is El Campello

Enjoying an enviable position on the sweeping Costa Blancan coastline between Alicante and Benidorm is the town of El Campello. A traditional Spanish resort, El Campello gives holidaymakers the best of both worlds in that it is far enough from the madness of Benidorm to be able to enjoy an altogether quieter holiday, but is only a short tram ride away if you do want to fully indulge in all that Benidorm has to offer.

The sweeping, pedestrianised sea front areas which are synonymous with Spanish resorts are simply outstanding here. There are no fewer than 42 bars and restaurants along this stretch where you can sit and enjoy a drink watching the world goodbye. It is busy but never crowded and the kilometres of pristine, golden sands stretch as far as the eye can see. The food and drink prices are also very reasonable to eating out will certainly not hammer your holiday budget.

The tourist tram also runs through the town which takes you from Alicante right up to Javea in the north, and makes for a great way of exploring the area quickly and cheaply. The tourism here is mainly Spanish, but it is becoming increasingly popular with British families who want an outstanding beach at their disposal without any of the crazy night life associated with the bigger resorts. A peaceful night’s sleep is guaranteed in El Campello, why? The Spanish won’t stand for it.

With a pretty town full of shops, an outstanding coastline and such good public transport, it is not surprising that this is fast becoming a top destination in the family holiday market. It will never be overdeveloped and turn into a Benidorm, the town simply wouldn’t allow it, and as far as families are concerned, this is music to their ears.
