Take a romantic winter break in Prague

For a romantic getaway for a few days, you really can’t do much better than Prague in the Czech Republic. This is especially true in the winter time and even more so over Christmas. Prague really does look like a fairy tale city at Christmas time with all the lights and the certainty of snow on the ground.

There are some great sights to see such as the ancient Prague Castle, the Royal Palace and Wenceslas Square. There are many old churches and buildings which give Prague that certain look which can’t help but bring out the romantic in you, especially after a fresh fall of snow.

Walking around the cobbled streets of Prague is an amazing experience and you really do feel as if you are in another world. It is a great experience to walk over Charles Bridge and then amble down to the banks of the Vltava River and feed the swans. Then you can stroll back up into the Old Town area and eat at one of the many restaurants or just enjoy a drink in one of the bars or cafes.

Traditional Czech food is really nice and must be tried when you are in Prague. The restaurants are very atmospheric and the staff really helpful with your choices of local food. A real romantic treat would be a cruise on the river where you can watch the city drift by as you relax with a glass of wine or the famous Czech beer.

You can also hire a car to explore the city and this gives you much more freedom to go where you want and do what you want. Be warned, though, that there is always a possibility of flight delays or cancellations during winter because of heavy snow fall.
