The cruising industry continues to grow and improve despite the continuing global economic slow-down. Many new companies have entered the cruising business over the last few years, and as each of these standardises their operations and deals it becomes harder for people to choose which cruise liner to book their cruise trip with.
Each cruise company has its own fleet of ships all of them claiming to be better than everyone else, and each with their own special features. 2011 has begun with a buzz of interest in several new ships which are the latest additions to these fleets, as well as a new set of destinations and ports of call.
The three largest ships to be launched this year are The Carnival Magic – Carnival Cruises, The Celebrity Silhouette – Celebrity Cruise Liner and The Disney Dream – Disney Cruise Line. There are also Marina – Oceania Cruises, AIDAsol – AIDA Cruises, Costa Favolosa – Costa Cruises, and Seabourn Quest – Seabourn Cruises. These Seven ships make up the very latest additions to the cruising world.
Carnival Magic is due to be launched by The Carnival Cruise liner company in May 2011. It will be a luxury Dream-class ship, which is one of the largest ships of the Carnival Cruise Liners and has space enough for 3,690 passengers. It will be the 23rd ship of this line, and is set to provide cruise trips from Barcelona lasting between 7 and 12 days.
Disney Cruises launched their new ship Disney Dream on January 4th 2011, and it is to be the largest cruise ship in their company with the capacity for 4,000 passengers. It began its journey in Florida, and will provide a range of cruises to the wonderful Bahamas. It is the first cruise liner to have a water coaster on board.
Celebrity Silhouette will be the 4th Solstice class ship in the Celebrity Cruise fleet, and like other ships of this class, it will have capacity for 2,850 passengers. It is scheduled to be launched by July this year, and will start out from Hamburg. During the 2011 summer season it will cruise across one of the most popular parts of the cruising world, the Mediterranean.
Costa Favolosa wil be the 16th vessel in the popular Costa Cruises fleet and will be able to accommodate approximately 3,780 passengers. Like the Celebrity Silhouette it is due to be launched by July this year. Its design is very similar to that of its sister ship Costa Pacifica which was launched last year. It will also cruise the ever popular Mediterranean through the summer.
Although there are less new vessels being launched this year as compared to the last two years, it is still likely that the launch of these major ships will energise the cruise industry.
