Long haul to Florida or short haul to Spain: where should you take your family this summer?

With both offering great beaches, fantastic attractions and almost guaranteed sunshine, choosing between a family holiday to Spain and a trip to Florida can be a challenge to say the least.

Whichever destination you choose, you’re bound to have a fantastic time and create some great family memories. Here are some things to help you decide which is right for you.

Family friendly

Spain is famous for loving children and being an especially family friendly European destination. It’s not uncommon to see kids eating dinner with their parents well after most British children are tucked up in bed and most restaurants, resorts and attractions will welcome your little ones with open arms.

Florida, however, may just be the ultimate family holiday destination with beaches, theme parks, exciting cities and countless other child-orientated attractions. Orlando is a particularly popular area with private villas, a great choice of accommodation.

Value for money

As far as European destinations go, Spain is one of the best value destinations with holidaymakers spending less per person than almost anywhere else. Great value villas in Spain can be found across the country, often near some of the best beaches and resorts.

Though it’s impossible to deny that flights to Florida will cost you more than a return ticket to Spain, once you’re there you’ll find that most activities and amenities are pretty good value for money.

Like Spain, you’ll be able to find affordable Florida villas for your family   and though the whole trip may cost a little more, your kids will remember their stateside holiday forever.

Spain’s main attractions are its beaches and beautiful cities, making it perfect for families who want to relax in the sun or soak up some culture. Most beach resorts are within reach of at least one big city so combining the two should be pretty easy.

What Florida lacks in history it more than makes up for in pure, unadulterated fun with its enormous theme parks which are second to none. If your family gets restless after a few days on the beach then this is certainly the destination for you.

One of the best things about a family holiday is the memories that you create and can then share for years to come. While a holiday in Spain will give your family some fantastic times to enjoy, if your kids haven’t been to America or on a long haul flight before, it’s hard to beat the excitement of their first stateside adventure.

So there you have it. Two great family destinations in two beautiful parts of the world; all you have to do is flip a coin, pack your bags and enjoy!
