Gosford is exactly what you imagine it to be

Gosford is just how you might imagine an Australian coastal town to be. There are, of course, the beaches with all the watersports such as sailing and there is some great surfing to be had here. There is much more to the town than just beaches and watersports though.

The Ettalong Market is a great place for some bargains and in October there is the Kincumber Festival which has live music concerts, loads of sidestalls, plenty of food and drink and is a lot of fun for everyone. The Australian Reptile Park at Somersby is a bit further inland but still just a few minutes’ drive away from Gosford and it is a great tourist attraction.

There are plenty of snakes and lizards to make your skin crawl and you will probably need a full day here to fit everything in including interactive displays and the Indiana Jones Show. Apart from the reptiles there are spiders and insects and for the squeamish there are cute and cuddly Koalas, Kangaroos and Wombats. There are also some giant tortoises here.

There are four national Parks just a short drive away from Gosford. The most popular with tourists and locals is probably Brisbane Waters. There are also another four towns nearby which are well worth a visit. These are Terrigal, Cococabana, Woy Woy and Avoca Beach.

Terrigal has some great scenery and is handily situated if you fancy a ramble in the Bouddi National Park. You can hire a boat for some sea game fishing or maybe do some whale watching. Woy Woy is also great for sea fishing and, like most Australian coastal towns, has great beaches. Both Terrigal and Woy Woy are pretty lively and there is some great nightlife and entertainment to be had.
