Camping in France is more popular than ever

The credit crunch is hitting globally and having a great impact on holidaymakers spending habits as more people are now considering camping for their holidays in France than in many years. Camping holidays are less expensive than staying at a hotel, villa rentals or apartments and it is an ideal way to get to know the country and enjoy the wonders of nature at the door of your tent or mobile home.

Not just that but it may have been several years since you have been camping and you may be amazed how many upgrades have been made for comfort and the facilities at the French campsites are really good. If you have been out of the loop on camping then you may have to get some advice as to preparing and planning your trip for camping in France.

Once you have decided on France for your camping holiday you need to decide on the region of France you want to visit. Each area has its unique charms but for value of money you cannot beat a camping trip to Brittany and even more so when families are involved.

Since it is close to England it also adds to the pleasure of going there. It has a great selection of local attractions that are family friendly and some exceptional campsites. Some of the best are Camping la Pointe St Gilles, Camping Chateau de Ormes and Camping Ty Nadan. All are highly regarded and have plenty to keep the family happy and content and being scenic and spacious adds to the charm.

When you decide to go is an important factor. The majority of campsites throughout France are open from May to September while some open earlier and some later. July and August are the ideal months for the best warm weather.

There will be more entertainment onsite as well as far more attractions that will be open in the general area when at that time. If quiet is what you are looking for then May or June is good as the weather is still pleasant but the campsites are emptier.

You need to pack depending upon the experience you want to have. The majority of sites in Brittany are fully equipped with accommodations right up to having barbeques saving you money not having to buy equipment that is not usually purchased during holidays. Sleep materials, a tent or mobile home, bed lines, pillows and blankets and lots of positive happy thoughts are the essentials to bring.
