Calgary for winter sports

For those who are interested in winter sports then Calgary is a great destination. It was the site of the Winter Olympics in 1988 and has an excellent Olympic Park from this time. A particularly enjoyable activity is to take a Bobsleigh ride and this is a very adrenaline fuelled experience and one that shouldn’t be missed out.

This is not the only activity you can enjoy at the Olympic Park and touring round the ice house is a great idea. This is the only facility in the world for Bobsleigh training that is based in doors.

You will also find a glass elevator which takes you high up above the ski jumps and you can see how far the skiers have to jump from. The glass elevator also takes you to the highest point in Calgary and you will enjoy an incredible view over the city. There is also the Olympic Hall of Fame Museum where you will be able to see a great collection of memorabilia and also be able to hold the Olympic torch from 1988.

There are plenty of accommodation options in the city and many of these are hotels. The Comfort Inn hotel is close to the airport as well as popular attractions such as Calgary Tower and Calgary zoo. There is also the Delta Lodge which is located near the Nakiska Ski Resort and has many facilities including a sauna, steam room, hot tub and a health club. There are also other types of treatment available here including massages and body treatments.

If you are looking for a bargain hotel then the Greenwood Inn & Suites hotel is the place to head to. Those who come to Calgary are always pleasantly surprised with how great it is as a holiday destination and you will find yourself wanting to return.
